The National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) is a Company wholly owned by Government of India. It functions as an apex institution for the benefit of Persons with Disabilities. Financial assistance is extended by the Corporation at concessional interest rate for starting /augmenting any activity contributing directly or indirectly in the income generation of Persons with Disabilities, thus helping them in their overall process of empowerment. The assistance is extended through the State Channelizing Agencies(SCAs) nominated by the State Government(s)/selected Public Sector Banks (PSBs)/Regional Rural Banks(RRBs) and other organisations with which MoA has been signed by NDFDC for channelizing the funds.
>Prominent schemes being implemented by NDFDC are as under:
1.Divyangjan Swavalamban Yojana :-
Financial assistance in terms of loan at concessional rate of interest is provided for the benefit of Persons with Disabilities for starting /augmenting any activity contributing directly or indirectly in the income generation and helping them in their overall process of empowerment.
The loan assistance can be availed by a Person with Disability through implementing agencies throughout the country. Under the scheme, maximum loan upto Rs. 50.0 lakh can be availed at the rate of interest 5-9% p.a. Loan upto Rs. 50 Lakh (Max.) may be availed for higher education within/outside the country @4% p.a.
Any Indian citizen with 40% or more disability and age above 18 years can apply for loan under NDFDC scheme for self-employment. The applicant should have UDID (UDID Enrolment No. in case of non-availability of UDID).
In case of persons with intellectual challenges, age is relaxed to 14 years in place of usual 18 years). The age criteria would not apply in respect of loan for higher education.
2.Vishesh Microfinance Yojana (VMY) :-
Under this scheme NDFDC provides prompt and need based finance for the target group and activities at reasonable rate of interest through NBFC-MFI, Section-8-MFI, and NGO-MFI, SHG Federations, state Government Missions and other state level organizations to pursue small/micro business and development activities. The unit cost of Project shall not exceed Rs.60,000/-. The repayment period is upto 3 years from the date of disbursement of loan.
