International Society for Human Welfare and Rehabilitation (ISHWAR) is a Society, founded by Padam Shri, Shri Surinder Mehta, Chairman Prime Group of Companies in the Year 1995. The focus of Society is to bring succor to Persons with Locomotor Disabilities (PWLD) from marginalised and underprivileged sections of the society. It fits artificial limbs (Prostheses) and limb support devices (Orthoses) to the needy through its Artificial Limb Centre at Delhi. Besides providing Prosthetic & Orthotic (P & O) services at this place, it also holds free Limb Fitting Camps for the poor across India. The Society also carries out free foot corrective surgeries for children from underprivileged sections across India through missions in collaboration with a charity organisation from abroad. ISHWAR has also been selected by few companies for implementation of their CSR projects for the benefit of physically challenged persons. The Society having a pan India footprint, has benefitted a large number of people, since its inception.
The ISHWAR Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics is situated in Annanagar, Chennai in the State of Tamil Nadu. It is about 18 Kms from the Chennai International & National Airport and about 8 Kms from the Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, commonly known as Chennai Central Railway Station. It is one of the premier and first Prosthetics and Orthotics College offering Undergraduate Degree (AHS – P&O) in Chennai affiliated to TN Dr. MGR Medical University, Guindy, Chennai that is the second largest Health Sciences University in India.
